Top 10 Best Place to Visit in Banaras (with photo) 2018

1. Banaras Ghat

The Ghats is a hive of activity with cremations, vendors, boats and then religious ceremonies. Walking around was easy though you do get pestered a bit but it again is a must see to understand Indian culture. The markets surrounding the Ghats were some of the best markets we have seen in India and we were able to browse without getting hassled to much. Lots of beautiful materials and just about anything else you may need.
A truly fantastic and very fascinating place to visit All human life and death happens here May not be to everyone’s taste but as a cultural experience I think that it is great.

  2. Sarnath

Visited Sarnath in the afternoon , could really not understand the reason for the hype .. I mean it’s a normal Buddhism spot and temple .. but nothing extraordinary. I would skip it.
Sarnath is a place located 10 kilometres north-east of Varanasi near the confluence of the Ganges and the Varuna rivers in Uttar Pradesh, India.

3. Golden Temple(Kashi vishwanath)

Best part of this temple is that it is unlike my visit to any other temple in any other temple city. There are no goons posing as pandits and forcing you to buy things and take part in rituals to worship Shiva in the right manner. The crowd that queues up to enter the temple are well managed by a huge number of police personnels and so there is no breaking of queue, or pushing, and shoving. It's peaceful visit to the inner precincts of the temple.

4.Harishchandra Ghat

This is the most prominent Ghat on the banks of Ganges in Varanasi used for cremation. People from distant place bring the body of their near and dear ones to get cremated here for swift passage to heavenly abode and perform their last
rites and rituals according to hindu doctrines.
It’s name is because of King Harish Chandra, who once worked at the cremation ground here for the perseverance of truth and charity.

5.Tulsi Manas Temple

The Tulsi Manas mandir - in remembrance of Tulsidas, who translated Ramayana from Sanskrit (written by Valmiki) to Hindi dialects, called Ramcharitmanas. The temple, made of marble, hosts various art work relating to Ramayana events. It is located at Durgakund very close to the Durga Temple and around 700m from the Sankat Mochan temple.

 6. Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple

Sankat Mochan temple is one of the locally popular temples for Lord Hanuman - it was quite crowded. Camera and mobile phones are not allowed in this temple. We spent around 10 minutes. We skipped the long queue and still where able to have very good dharshan from outside the main sanctum.
Sankat Mochan Temple of Shri Hanuman Ji (version of northindia) OR Shri Anjeneya (version of Southindia) is a very popular and old temple in Varanasi, located near BHU Lanka area. Twin banyan tree, senthoram prasadham and Peda sweet are the specialities of this old temple. Lord Ram temple is also located within the premises.

7. Kedar Ghat

The beautiful ghat with mind blowing surrounding.. Many foreigners visit the
place. Love the are of the ghat. This is the Ghat where people bathe and worship sun God.
The temple can be maintained much better, given the prime location of the Ghat area and the spectacular views at the Ghat side of the temple. Its worth spending some quality time at the Ghat side. Besides the divine aspects, the colorful happenings at the Ghats right from boat rides.

8.Monkey Temple (Durga Temple)

The temple is dedicated to goddess Durga and hence painted red
Located near a water Body which has been developed by fountain which hardly operates.
Built in 18th century had lots of money in and around in earlier days that is why it is also known as monkey temple.

 9.Dasaswamedh Ghat

Dasaswamedh Ghat is very famous because of the Ganga arati. A huge crowd gathered there to see arati at around 6 pm. Very close to Kashi Vishwanath temple. Good place for photography or just to sit and watch people or to go for a boat ride around Ganga ghats.

 10.Annapurna Devi Mandir

Annapurna Devi Mandir is one of the most famous temples in the holy city of Varanasi. Belief is that Mata Parvati offered food by her own hands to Lord Shiva and then made a kitchen in Varanasi for her devotees. This is depicted as Annapurna Devi temple.
